Rain and flooding!

What a day this has been!  I swear we have gotten anywhere from 3" to 6" of rain this afternoon/evening.  The roads are flooded.  Here are some pictures from around our house/immediate neighborhood.

2024 The Year of back to Quilting!

This year I am determined to quilt!  I have an updated list of UFO's listed and those are just a few of the things I plan to accomplish this year.  Last year was basically very little sewing me for me as I fell and am now basically better.

I am a member of Quilting Around The World online quilting group and they are doing a UFO challenge again this year and I will get this list finished.  Of course it means keeping my long-armer bust doing tops for me!  LOL

I also plan to be more present on this blog and post quilty things, as well as life on here.  Hope you had a fantastic New Year!

It's been awhile

Hard to believe that it's been roughly 3 years since I've posted.  Covid isolation, etc. really took a toll on me and I basically shut down.  I finally started getting out and about to places but no where as frequent as I had been pre-COVID.

It felt good to go to my yearly quilting retreat in June, 2021.  I was blessed to have my daughter go with me and we had so much fun! Heather made her first quilt!  She did a fantastic job!  Looking forward to going again this June!

Week 4 Sewing

Last week was week #4 in 52 Weeks of Sewing and it was to sew something red.  So I mad a Valentines shirt.  It's really comfy and was super easy and quick to make.  I do need to shorten the sleeves.

And of course Trinity had to help me! LOL

Things I have been up to lately

I am in a Facebook group called 52 weeks of sewing.  They have prompts for each week on what to sew.  Of course if what the suggestion is doesn't work for you...you can do something else.

Week #1  Organize your sewing room

Week  #2 Complete a UFO...no problem as I have a ton of these hanging out...

I choose to work on Gracie's blocks from a secret Santa I had participated in a number of years ago. I put solid blocks with them and made a flimsy, which sat around for roughly a year!!  So I got it out and finished it!

Week #3 Make something from a pattern you have never used

So I dug around and found a lounge pants pattern and some fabric and worked on them...well let's just say it's been a looooong time since I've sewn clothing and read a pattern.  Needless to say I need to rip these out, as I sewed the legs for the waist...ugh... and do it correctly this time LOL

Random thoughts for the evening

Yesterday we were so happy to have the horticultural debris from Hurricane Irma picked up....finally no more looking at that everyday.

So we fall back tonight, my body has been doing that all week with my sleep schedule, it thought that it was time last week!  LOL

I've been on the computer looking at different projects that I would love to start and think oh wait I need to do this or that for Christmas presents and so I save the ideas for another time.  I've been in a funk for quilting again and am slowly coming out of it.  I have six Christmas stockings that I need to embroider name tags for this week,  also make some burp cloths.  Really need to make a list and focus or I'll never accomplish what I need to by Christmas.

Hard to believe July is almost over

Where has the time gone?  It seems like yesterday and it was still June.  My time away in June was fantastic, great catching up with some family and going to a Quilt Retreat is always fun!  Spent a day or two in Paducah, KY doing some shopping and seeing some sights.  After retreat my Aunt Becky, Leslie and I stopped for 2 nights in Shipshewana, IN.  Really a neat place, did a bunch of shopping!  Want to take Jim there sometime.  I'm making progress on getting the sewing room usable again.  I picked up this chest last week and am slowly filling it up!

It's a beautiful day

here in Pennsylvania.  I'm enjoying my time at Jack and Becky's.  Yesterday was a Pittsburgh kind of day.....met Becky's Son Bob and his family had a nice time at Station Square/Bessemer Court.  Tomorrow Becky, Leslie and I are starting our road trip to a Quilt Retreat.  Really looking forward to that and seeing everyone again!  We are gonna stop in Paducah, KY for a couple nights and do some things there.

Spending time with family

First night of our journey to PA, we stopped for a night at Tim and April's. Visit was to short, however we had fun.

Enjoying the yard and cooler weather at Jeff and Lora's.

Cats

I must say this is a first for this sewing arrangement. I was dumbfounded to walk in the bedroom and find Eddie on my sewing table. Silly cat!

Heart Wreath

Just finished this for Valentine's Day. I crocheted roses and pinned them to a styrofoam heart wreath and added a couple ribbons.  Really pleased with how it turned out.
