Sunday report on Monday

This past week was rather productive and also frustrating. I took 2 classes at the LQS and made the Peek a Boo Tulips table runner and also made the blocks for the Yellow Brick Road. Eddie helped me on Sat arrange the blocks and now I just need to sit down and sew them together. I also worked some on my Sunbonnet Sue blocks and got very frustrated at them and myself. So I am trying again this week to get these finished up. I think part of the problem is I have not been feeling well and things just aren't making sense to me and the other part is me!

Fabric Added This Week - 2 1/2 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 19 5/8 yards
Fabric Used This Week - 5 1/2 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 44 3/8 yards
Net year to date: 24 3/4 yards used

Yellow Brick Road

Today I went and took the YBR class at the LQS....I know I really didn't need to take the class, but I knew it was probably the only way I would make this quilt right now...LOL Here is a pic of the layout and my helper....thank heavens for cameras!

Peek a boo table runner

Weds night I took this class at the LQS. It was quick and fun and surprisingly easy. I just need to fussy cut 4 sunflowers to stitch on and then it will be ready to be quilted.

If you know

where my quilters marking pencils are, would you please let me know? I used them in January to do some marking for hand applique class and put them somewhere and I spent last night and most of today looking for them and geesh they just aren't here! LOL Jim suggested that Eddie hid them or that the little lizard that Eddie hid in my chair last night took them and ran off! So tonight while at quilt class I am going to purchase more and then I am sure that over the weekend they will turn up. Probably sitting somewhere right now laughing at me! Well I'm off to pack up and leave for class.

Sunday Report

This past week it was make a baby quilt and have it delivered by Thurs morning. Talk about a deadline...whew I made it and both Mom and Grandmother were very happy with it. This was the first time I had been asked to make something for someone and actually get paid for doing it. I have also been working on prepping my pieces for some Sunbonnet Sue hand applique blocks and I took a hand piecing class on Saturday.

Fabric Added This Week - 6 1/4 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date - 17 1/8 yards
Fabric Used This Week - 9 1/2 yards
Fabric Used Year to Date - 38 7/8 yards
Net year to date: 21 3/4 yards used

I am surprised at how much fabric I have used so far this year. I know in April I am going to take a big hit on fabric added, as Jim and I are going up to Paducah! Oh my!

Today I did something I said I never would do..

Took a class at the LQS on hand piecing. I have always said I do not have the patience or the inclination to learn how to do this. When I signed up for this class I was thinking it was a hand applique class...was checking on the supplies and reading the little sheet they give out and discovered it was piecing! Imagine my surprise....LOL Well I went ahead and took the class and found out it isn't as bad as I thought it would be! We used a rubber stamp to mark the fabric, which helped on time and accuracy. Here is my first attempt..it isn't perfect, but it isn't bad either. Now if I could just get the hang of threading that darn small needle!

This is the baby quilt that I have been working on for the past few days. The top is done and I am now onto the backing.....currently I have laid out scraps from the top and am thinking of using them for the backing. What do you think?

Stashbusting Report #10

This past week was pretty good as far as sewing. I was able to complete another snowflake block, make the Feb House BOM for the LQS and get 90% of the baby quilt top made. So all in all a great week. I don't have my totals for the week done yet, will update those next week. The baby quilt I am working on is one a co-worker asked me to make for her Grandson. I have to hurry and get it done and give to her either Weds or Thurs. It is turning out really cute.

Squirrels!

This morning I was sitting at my computer and heard this noise like something landed on the screen enclosure around the patio....I went out to see what it was, and found Eddie crouched down looking upward stalking something, which turned out to be a grey squirrel...this little guy kept going back and forth and then finally went over to a tree and then after a little bit jumped down and ran in front of where Eddie was and then left the yard....sure did keep the cat busy for awhile!

Cats!

As many of you know our daughter has a cat and his name is Eddie. Well for some reason he thinks he should come in our room at various times of the night for loving and just general aggravating! LOL He has his own door to the lania (patio) which is screened in. He will go out it during the night, but when he thinks it is time to come in, he will come over to the dining room sliding door and sit there and meow and if that doesn't wake me up, he will stand up on his hind legs and knock on the door with his front paws! Now mind you he has no front claws so you know he is hitting the door kinda hard for me to hear him. So I ignore him, doesn't work....hmpffff, up I get and let him in...well he beats me back to bed! LOL and proceeds to go over to Jim and stand on his side and look him in the eye and of course Jim ignores him and Eddie then comes to me...I try ignoring him, but have you ever tried ignoring something that weights roughly 18 pounds and has his front paws with all his weight on them on your sternom or worse yet your boobie! Oh my gosh! So I end up petting him and he settles down and then leaves....but oh wait he comes back again and now it is 5:30 AM! When this happened the other night I thought what is going on he normally comes in around 6:30 AM and wakes us up...so I go and check the calendar and low and behold this weekend we change the clocks....guess Eddie's clock is changing ahead of schedule....LOL CATS! can't live with them! can't live without them! Kinda like husbands and kids!

Stashbusting Report #9

This week was a fairly good week for me! I feel good about what I accomplished. I was able to put the borders on a fall mystery quilt I had made a few years ago, make an apron and a totebag! Just read Judy's report and like her I too am counting the fabric as used once it is off the shelf and cut for the project. I did that with the snowflakes and yes I am still making them but have only counted that fabric one time.

Quiltathon #1

I had planned on quilting up a storm this weekend...however life and some food I ate Saturday interferred....However I did make 2 rail fence and 1 star block for a QOV quilt and worked more on my snowflakes and cut out templates for the Lost Sock Swap and a Sun Bonnet Sue I want to make. I guess after reading what I just typed I didn't do so bad after all!

Saturday was a basic waste of a good day...

Got up with lots plans for sewing all morning. Jim was gonna be gone getting the car fixed and it was gonna be me and Eddie! Well car couldn't be worked on, so we took my ring and bracelet back to the jewelers to get fixed, stopped for lunch and I had a BBQ pulled pork sandwhich on a garlic hoagie roll and that was the end of me for the day. I ended up late Saturday evening taking Sunday off...didn't want to chance feeling better in the morning or not...So no sewing for me, other than I did pet some fabric at the LQS while there picking up some thread.
