Quilt for CASA

The blocks in this quilt top were from a swap I was in a number of years ago.  They had been sitting in the swap drawer and I knew they were something I wouldn't use at home, so after attending retreat this past June I decided to turn them into a quilt for CASA.  One of the fabulous ladies in this online group volunteers for CASA, so it was decided that our charity donations would go to this organization.

Design Wall Monday on Tues July 13

I finally have something different on my wall this week!  I know shocking isn't it?  LOL  The R/W/Black blocks are called Indian Mat and the pattern can be found on http://www.quilterscache.com/  Very easy pattern!  The stars will be made into a kitchen curtain and a front door decoration for the various patriotic holidays.  The scrappy jacbos ladder will go with others and be made into a quilt for CASA for retreat next year.

OPAM Finishes for June!!

Earlier this month I attended an awesome and super fun quilt retreat.  While there I finished off 2 projects!!!  Finally I am back to getting to the sewing machine!

The first finish is what I call the Christmas Magazine Challenge that was done with members from an online group I belong to.  The challenge was to find a magazine or quilt book and make a project from it that we had not made before.

My other finish for June is what I call my Drink Quilt!
The name came from the fabric I used.
This was made in a class at the LQS and was fun to make.
When I got to our Son's on the way home from Retreat I took it in and
showed him and well lets just say it is now living with Tim!

Log cabin quilt...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr........

Has almost ended up in the pool and the garbage can!  I am so frustrated with it that I would have no problem with tossing it!  I finished making the remaining 2 blocks I needeed, squared everything up, laid it out on the design wall and all looked good.  I sewed blocks into rows and then started sewing rows together and that is when the trouble started!  The rows have puckers and are just awful not to mention that I sewed 1 row on to the wrong side of the prior row...UGH...So yesterday I did not touch it!!  Today I will work on doing some ripping out and see IF I can get it to go together correctly.  If not it goes somewhere!!!!

Design Wall Monday June 21st

This has been on my design wall for quite awhile now and it is coming off this week!
I just need to finish 2 blocks and then square up and sew the rows together and it will be a top.  Then to figure out if I want borders on it and then it will go into the to be quilted pile!
